Review
After several meetings between the laboratories SHS of Africain Studies, and under the aegis of scientific directions of sections 33, 38 and 40, was subjected to the direction of the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH a proposal of creation of common UMR uniting UMR 6124 (Institute of Africain Studies), UMR 8048 (Systems of thought in Black Africa), and UMR 8054 (Africain Mutations in long length), under a quadripartite tutelage : Paris I university, EPHE, University of Provence, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH.
From an institutional point of view, such rapprochement to three partners allows the creation of a laboratory importing in number of researchers and teachers-researchers (50 statuary members, 21 researchers and 29 teachers-researchers, without counting the not statuary elected members and the linked researchers). The dynamics so created will make easier international visibility and development of cooperations. Such unit will constitute a centre of attraction mattering for the researchers, French or foreign, working on Africa. From a scientific point of view, a more active rapprochement between historians, anthropologists of right, political scientists and ethnologists will allow us to confront and to refine our respective approaches on evolutions and the transformations which could know and that know currently the Africain societies, and on the nature of present and crossed mutations.
The regrouping of this three units corresponds to a scientific logic (common problems, on a shared ground), leaning on a network of exchanges already ancient intra and interdisciplinary (History, Anthropology, political and legal Sciences).
Review of the site of Ivry (ex SPAN)
Created in October, 1962, the co-operative Research on Programme n°11, « Object and methods of an ethnosociologie compared of the Black Africa » regrouped 36 researchers (among whom 24 of the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH), among whom several thought before were attached to centres in Africa (who knew a change of status further to independence). Review of the site of Paris (ex MALD)
UMR 8054 Africain mutations in Long Length was the "result" of an experience developed since around thirty years and from which the association between university and NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH goes back up for history in twenty-three years.

The Institute of Africain Studies (IEA) had been created in 2000 by the professor Jean-Louis TRIAUD, with the intention of gathering in UMR (6124) the researchers and teachers researchers anthropologists and historians of Africa to the University of Provence.
