The family of the lieutenant-colonel René Dutel, died on February 15th, 2006 gave in
BRA of its library concerning Africa. Student at St Cyr, he goes out in the colonial Infantry and participates in the campaign of France of May-June, 1940 when he is named. Transferred in North Africa, he joins fast the Black Africa which enthralls him. Awarded a diploma by oriental Languages, he is affected in posts of his competence both in Paris and ultramarine. Its territory of predilection was Niger which will make it commander of its national order. The major Dutel ends his military career in the post of military adviser to the President of the Republic of Ivory Coast (1964-1966) before starting a civil career. He was member of the Society of the Africanists.
