Workshop " La danse comme objet anthropologique"

This workshop is conceived as fundamentally exploratory. He does not concern a definite topic, but wonders, from the analysis of particular cases, about dance "in general " . The participants will so be invited to take advantage from very various jobs, at different stages of completion, to move forward their own researches and to lead a collective reflexion on the conceptual tools adequate to the anthropological analysis of this highly evocative object, but outlines of which remain uncertain.
To open as many as possible in the possible contributions of the anthropological study of dance, this one, following the example of many other objects of discipline (ritual, marriage, exchange, etc.), will be envisaged at the same time from two virtually contradictory points of view : as hermeneutic instrument unblocking on some general problems (bodily practices, self-defining building, ritual or artistic performance, etc.) and as specific phenomenon, on which distinctive properties - but then it will be necessary to specify them - encourage to study it for himself.
The workshop takes the form of a series of monthly conferences from 10 am till 6 pm, to the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH of Ivry (27, street Paul Bert, 94204 Ivry-sur-Seine, Tel : 01.49.60.40.07)
Every conference is dedicated to the presentation of two « studies of case » followed by debates, requests of precision, suggestions, speculations, etc.
