Call to contributions : Symposium : « Africa-Asia : networks, exchanges, transversalités »
Horizon : June, 2010
Answer in the form of a title and of a summary of half a page before May 1st, 2009
Exchanges between Africa and Asia constitute a topic which considerably became rich since around thirty years. Around this topic, the Centre of studies of the Africain worlds (Donatecarcenter.com - UMR 8171), throws a call to contributions for a symposium envisaged in June, 2010.
This question, very large, is likely to be treated by specialists of many disciplines of human and social sciences : history, anthropology, sociology, linguistics, economy, political sciences, geography, geopolitics, right, international relations, archaeology, history of art and visual culture, musicology …
Current exchanges in men, in capitals, in technologies and in imagination implicate first a revitalisation of circuits more ancient and partly left since colonisation or affirmation of States-nations. They give rise then to an extension of the circuits of exchanges with new territories, which call into question, both in Africa and in Asia, the privileged links constructed with Europe since colonial presences and in the following days of Independence. Studies in social and human sciences interested in these exchanges therefore have to take into account a double dimension which we want to see representing in communications of this symposium : the various fluxes of mobilities ; the homes of innovative relations between local and total.
Stakes of this symposium are at three levels :
(1) measure the way covered in the understanding of exchanges Africa-Asia, since around thirty years, by moving look away from the centre in passage traditionally eurocentré.
(2) highlight new themes, methods and approaches, notably concerning the new globalisation lived and analysed from south countries.
(3) open research perspectives by crossing not much explored themes, unpublished sources, and emergent disciplines.
Big offered topics are :
movements of South-south populations, notably intergovernmental relations ; créolisation ; buildings of type ; diasporas ; migratory phenomena, returns and transmission of memo ; development of imagination …
emergence of economic complementarity, notably capital flow, big economic plans (working of resources, road facilities, entrepreneuriales, urbanistic and rural, new markets of materials, export of technologies, health) ; economic plans with more reduced ladder (small and medium trade, deliveries of the migrants) ; illicit traffics …
reciprocal loans of cultural forms of expression, notably plastic, graphic, musical, television and dramatic arts (literature, BOULEVARD, theatre, cinema, video, NTIC) ; biennial, festivals and meetings centered on cultural production ; religious exchanges ; exchanges of ideas, of modes, of rumours and of perception of the world …
The history of the population in forms of recent migrations, artistic and cultural syncretisms in economic and ideological exchanges, subjects are numerous who allow to notice the reciprocal circulation between the Africain worlds and the Asiatic worlds.
We solicit an answer for your part in the form of a title and of a summary of half a page before May 1st, 2009. If your proposal is kept, one will ask you an abstract second more detailed for it.
The languages of symposium are French and English.
