Published by editions Karthala, Africain Politics is a multidisciplinary magazine of analysis of policy in Africa. Created at the beginning of 1980s in break with predominant approaches, it was obvious in France and to foreigner, as a reference publication for the community at large international "africanist".
By the novelty of its question settings, it deeply renewed the reading of evolutions of the continent and contributed to the affirmation of a research current admitted beyond the French-speaking countries.
The new expression of Africain Politics, implemented since 1999, intends to give an account even more truthfully of complex modalities of invention of the modernity which take place in Africa, especially in the south of the Sahara without challenging the increasing links which exist with the rest of the continent. She also intends to reflect in any independence debates on the future of Africa.
In order to do that, she devotes itself for priority to publish unpublished jobs of ground, she opens her columns widely to the Africain authors and tries hard to reinforce the collaboration with the various research organisms of the continent.
Africain politics also aims at linking basic research closely to the analysis of actuality and wants to give to a broader readership than an only academic public, keys of interpretation of the vagaries of the situation.
Every number of Africain Politics is structured around a file, carrying on a particular topic (Faces of success ; corruption to the daily ; The subjects of God), either on a country or a regional aerie (Madagascar ; Zimbabwe ; both Congo in war, The Ivory Coast). Constituted by a half a dozen of articles, every file is so equivalent to a mini-joint publication, accomplished by the best specialists of subject.
