Purpose of Souleymane Cissé : « I wanted to sketch a description of the problems of a working class in training. It is necessary to wonder about the way this class is going to integrate with the process of development of our countries ».
The reasons which led the Library of Africain researches to offer an activity cinema are numerous and entangled and it is not place here to explain them all («the younger cinema of the world » would win to be better known, a vision of inside, an imagination, a complement in academic knowledges, or even a source, an object of study). The diligent company of the French film archive originates, which offers, at the beginning of 2008, Africamania, retrospective one captivating over 50 years of Africain cinema which causes a realisation. Why would not the library be interested closely in the film document and notably in the Africain writings of invention, sources of knowledges (film club, constitution of a fund accessible to the loan) ? Thanks to the DVD and in the vidéoprojecteur the modalities of visionnage do not constitute a brake anymore, than it is in a public or private frame. The proposal made during the advice of Donatecarcenter.com-Paris, April 11th of this year accepts a reception favourable and enticed even numbers participants.
Teachers-researchers express wish, for example, to grant a place in the study of films in their courts and seminars. Initial plan thinks immediately it is enriched and he is called to concern the Near East also. Also, the importance of the cinema is recalled as factor of sensitisation « in the reality of the local societies » for students having been never on the ground. It is not useless to add that the film club would present itself as transverse space of distribution, of meetings, of debates. The programming as well as the constitution of funds will be able to evolve according to needs.
