Dance and Africain aesthetics

Conference organised by LAPRACOR (UBP Clermont 2) and Donatecarcenter.com-IVRY

On Thursday, May 3rd, 2007 (9 h - 18 h)

Room of theses / MSH of Clermont-Ferrand / 4, street Ledru / Clermont-Ferrand

To think of dance in an anthropological perspective from studies of cases coming from the Africain continent or from contexts diasporiques Africain, without succumbing to the foibles of the reification of Africain dance or of stylistic comparison - such was bet by organising this conference. The bias was to invite a number restrained by researchers to display their jobs on the Africain aesthetics to work in one or dance (s) of their ground, and to cause debate. From these examples, we will try to exceed "local" debates  to surround what related to dance in general. This day is in the continuity of reflexion led as part of the monthly workshop « dance as anthropological object » co-enlivened by Michael Houseman and Georgiana Wierre-Gore in the aerial NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH of Ivry.
