Presentation

The funds of the Library of Africain researches built on a multidisciplinary base, from 1962, to the Sorbonne. The different elements of the Library were mainly formed and developed at the instigation of Africain independence and became rich in contact with the activities of educations and of researches led since.

The regrouping of three research centres of the University Paris 1 dedicated in Africa - the Centre of Africain researches (CRA), the Laboratory of legal anthropology of Paris (LAJP), the Centre of legal and political studies of the legal and political world of the Africain world (CEJPMA) - within unique structure, mixed Research unit NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH - PARIS 1 Africain Mutations in long length : history, societies, powers (UMR 8054) gave rise to the creation of a new library : the Library of Africain researches (BRA) uniting the documentary funds of these three centres. Let us add that in return 2000, the library included the Fund Augustine Bernard concerning the history of colonial period in North Africa and stored until then in the library of the Institute of Geography. All these funds take root in the past institutional of research centres intellectual history of which it is possible to redraw by riffling through the registers of acquisitions or by going through the rays of the library. The documentary offer of the new library, through the augmented and supplementary funds, represents a real advance to the service of the students and researchers.

BRA can be considered from now on to be one of the most important research libraries of Europe as part of concerned disciplines. Specificity and wealth of its collections attract many researchers so French as foreign. The effort of regrouping provoked new dynamics and, as a result, new documentary plans.

Consultation on place (16 seatings), reserved first and foremost for the students (from workmanship), researchers and teachers of Paris 1 and also on recommendation, temporary permissions for external persons.

In reading room, room of works and periodicals are in free access, especially the new acquisitions, works most often asked, ongoing periodicals, most theses and memo...

Works, collections of periodicals, theses and memo kept in shop can be if required announced.

The consultation of catalogues is made thanks to the paper files, to listings (by country and by topics). At request, the personnel performs researches on the computerised catalogue and gives any bibliographic information.

Possibility of consulting the copy of the summaries of the available periodicals.

Possibility of photocopy : a photocopier with card is available in the foyer of the building.

Two Internet posts are at the disposal of readers.

The new acquisitions are regularly mentioned in the Newspaper of Donatecarcenter.com.
