Collections in figures
All the collections of the Library of Africain researches, represent more than 25000 works on 1000 linear metres of shelving (of which an important collection of ancient and rare works), 900 titles of periodicals among which ongoing 104, more than 2000 jobs of students (theses and memo), of grey literature (unpublished symposiums, reports), Funds of archives, notably those of the professors Raymond Mauny and Yves Person, cards. Works and periodicals are predominantly in French language. About 20 % of collections are in foreign language the first represented foreign language is English, second, Portuguese, then Italian, Spanish, Arabic...
Main countries, main periods
If the collections of the library concern Africa on the scale of the continent, some countries or some regions think there more they are represented as the Senegal, Mali, the Ivory Coast, Togo, the Benin, Cameroon, Africa of the Great Lakes, Ethiopia, Madagascar... For his/her part, the fund Augustine Bernard reinforces the presence of Maghrebi pole. The contemporary period is most widely represented.
The donors
As many libraries of research centres, the Library of Africain researches benefited from a generous tradition, that it is the work of professors or of institutions : the donation of works. So, thousands of works included the rays of the library.
Donation by Raymond Mauny who was professor to the University Paris 1 and manager of the CRA of his Africain library from 1978, in several deliveries.
Don by overseas Archives, in 1986, before allots to them in Aix-en-Provence, works in duplicate of their library.
Donation by the heirs of the professor Yves Person who was professor to the University Paris 1 and manager of the CRA, of the Africain library of their father in 1990.
Other donations : melt Cornevin, Joire, Jacques Laffont, Jacques Larue...
The teachers and researchers have most often the reflex-library and do not miss to give in a common way this or that publication to enrich funds.
